Automobile Service Workshops

About the Workshops
The workshops will cover the harmful affects that mismanaged motor oil and other vehicle fluids, solvents, cleaners and debris leave behind. The lessons to take back to your shop are as simple as using a separate drip pan underneath vehicles and recycling the collected motor oil. Containing metal filings, vehicle fluids and other chemicals and debris from entering streets and storm drains can done through following simple best management practices outlined in this workshop.

About the Problem
This pollution occurs when rainwater runs off the land and picks up pollutants and debris such as litter, pesticides, chemicals, pet waste, motor oil and sediment (dirt). It flows off rooftops, lawns, down driveways and streets then flows into storm drains or directly into waterways. Preventing these pollutants from entering waterways is key in protecting rivers, lakes and streams. This is critical address because within the 16-county metropolitan Atlanta, more than 1,000 stream miles are impaired and fail to meet water quality standards due to polluted stormwater runoff.
